Synopsis:

Theodore Finch is fascinated by death, and he constantly thinks of ways he might kill himself. But each time, something good, no matter how small, stops him.
 
Violet Markey lives for the future, counting the days until graduation, when she can escape her Indiana town and her aching grief in the wake of her sister’s recent death.
 
When Finch and Violet meet on the ledge of the bell tower at school, it’s unclear who saves whom. And when they pair up on a project to discover the “natural wonders” of their state, both Finch and Violet make more important discoveries: It’s only with Violet that Finch can be himself—a weird, funny, live-out-loud guy who’s not such a freak after all. And it’s only with Finch that Violet can forget to count away the days and start living them. But as Violet’s world grows, Finch’s begins to shrink.

Review:

All the bright places is written by Jennifer Niven which is based on the author’s personal story. And this is her first young adult work. She received a lot of positive responses for this book. A film adaptation based on this book was also released on February 28, 2020 on Netflix.

The characters Finch and Violet are developed in an outstanding way. They face abuses, bullying, depression, mental illness and suicidal thoughts in their teen-age. They struggle to find themselves. They always try to find out their own ways to acknowledge their faults.

“I’m broken, and no one can fix it. I’ve tried. I’m still trying. I can’t love anyone because it’s not fair to anyone who loves me back”.

They failed in every process of recognizing their imperfections when they didn’t know each other. But, everything just upturned once they meet and fall in love with each other.

“You make me lovely, and it’s so lovely to be lovely to the one I love”.

Their trying to help each other’s healing is the best part of this book. They may wrench your soul unreservedly and leave a huge void that may stay with you evermore.

“You are all the colours in one, at full brightness”.

On the whole, this book endeavours to teach us why we should try to understand those people who are fighting with depression and mental illness through excruciating melodramatic love story.

The New York Times favourably compared all the bright places to Rainbow Rowell’s Eleanor & Park and John Green’s The Fault In Our Stars. And I am totally enraptured by this comparison because that’s what exactly I felt when I read this book.

உண்மை கதையை மையப்படுத்தி எடுத்திருந்தாலும் அதில் ரசிக்கும் வண்ணம் பல காட்சிகளையும், எதார்த்தமான வசனங்களையும், மிகவும் கச்சிதமான கதாபாத்திரங்களையும் தேர்வு செய்தது மிகப்பெரிய வலுவாகும்.

சூர்யா – வின் முழு வீரியமான நடிப்பை வெளிக்கொண்டு வர தெரிந்த இயக்குனர்கள் மிகச் சிலரே. இதில் சுதா கொங்கரா இதுவரை கண்டிராத சூர்யாவின் எதார்த்தமாக நடிப்பை உணர்ச்சிமிக்க காட்சிகளிலும் மிகவும் அழகாக வெளிக்கொண்டு வர செய்திருப்பார். சூர்யாவின் நடை, நடிப்பினில் வெளிப்படுத்தும் செய்கைகள் என அனைத்தும் கதாபாத்திரத்துடன் ஒன்றி அமைந்திருப்பது பாராட்டுக்குரியது.

அபர்ணா பாலமுரளி – இன் நடிப்பு அனைவராலும் மெச்சும் வண்ணம் அமைந்துள்ளது. திமிரும் ஒருவித அழகே என்பதை நமக்கு நினைவூட்டி சென்றிருப்பார், அவரின் இறுமாப்பை வெளிப்படுத்தும் காட்சிகளிலும் அவரின் இயல்பான நடிப்பினால்.

பரேஜ் ராவல், ஊர்வசி, மோகன் பாபு, விவேக் பிரசன்னா, கிருஷ்ணகுமார், கருணாஸ் ஆகியோரின் நடிப்பும் கன கச்சிதம்.

ஜி.வி. பிரகாஷ் – இன் இசை பின்னணியிலும், பாடல்களிலும் நம்மை கவர்ந்தே கதையோடு ஒன்றி பயணித்திட உதவுகிறது.

“உயர உயர பறந்தாலும் ஊர்க்குருவி பருந்தாகாது” என்ற பழமொழியை தகர்த்தெறிந்த கேப்டன் கோபிநாத் அவர்களின் வாழ்க்கை வரலாற்றைக் கண்முன் நிறுத்தி, இளைஞர்கள் மற்றும் தனது கனவை எப்பேர்பட்டாவது நிறைவேற்றத் துடிக்கும் அனைத்து சராசரி மனிதர்கள் என எல்லா தரத்தினருக்கும் ஒரு முன்னோடியாக விளங்குகிறது இக்கதை.

“ஏழை என்றுமே ஏழையாக தான் இருக்க வேண்டும்” என்று நினைக்கும் பல செல்வ செழிப்பானவர்களின் நினைவை மாற்றி அமைத்து எல்லோரும் சமமே, எல்லாருக்கும் அனைத்தும் பொதுவே என்ற கருத்தினை முன் வைத்திடும் இத்திரைப்படம் கூட செல்வர்களால் மட்டுமே கண்டு களித்திடும் அமேசான் பிரைம் (Amazon Prime) – இல் வெளியிட்டது சற்றே வருத்தம் அளிக்கிறது.

நமது கனவுகளை ஊக்குவித்திடும் படியான வரலாறாய் தனது வாழ்க்கையை மாற்றிய ஒரு உண்மையான சூரரைப் போற்றிடும் வண்ணம் அமைந்த இத்திரைப்படத்தை தவறாமல் காணுங்கள்.

உணர்வூக்கம் அளித்திடும் நல்ல திரைக்கதைகளை ரசிப்போருக்கு இத்திரைப்படத்தை பரிந்துரைக்கிறேன்.

Synopsis:

Review:

Locke & key is an American series based on the comic book series of the same name by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez.

Nina Locke (Darby Stanchfield) - the matriarch of the Locke family. She is an apposite choice for her role. Her effortless acting grabs us into the story. Her reminiscent thoughts about her dead husband [Rendell Locke - (Bill Heck)] unveils their beautiful relationship.

Tyler Locke (Connor Jessup) - the eldest son of the Locke family. His subtle acting stands out. His care for his siblings is eye-catching.

Kinsey Locke (Emilia Jones) - the middle child and the only daughter of the Locke family. Her graceful presence makes us fall for her immediately. Her admirable performance is noteworthy. She is ready to face anything to protect her family.

Bode Locke (Jackson Robert Scott) - the youngest son of the Locke family. He is my most favourite character. His intelligence and innocence is the perfect duo to fall for. His curiosity also leads us to crave for more magical things.

Dodge (Laysla De Oliveira) - "well lady" of the Keyhouse. She is an absolute choice for devilish antagonist.

Their siblings bonds will be the most desiderate connection for everyone. Other casts are appropriate choice.

The story development is so good. The magical things are tremendously helpful to keep the audience on their toes. Direction, script writing, cinematography are in top-grade level. Background scores are remarkably done by Torin Borrowdale.

Overall, Locke & Key is bound up with magical things beautifully entangled into the siblings and friends' relationships.

I highly recommend this series to all the lovers of fantasy with a touch of horror.
