Dil Bechara (Movie Review)

July 25, 2020 4 Comments

Synopsis:

Kizie and Manny, two ordinary people brought together by a tragic twist, embark on a bittersweet and extraordinary journey into the heart of that crazy little thing called ‘life’.

Review:

I'm not writing this review to grab visitors' attention. I did that before but definitely not this one. I like Sushant not only for his acting but also for his craze for astronomy, poems and reading books. I want to specially appreciate ‘Disney+Hotstar' for the free streaming of this film.

This movie is based on a famous novel “The fault in our stars” by John Green. If you have already read this book or watched that movie in English then you will definitely know how this movie will tear off your soul. Or if you are new to this story then be prepared for your emotional roller coaster ride.

Immanuel Rajkumar/Manny (Sushant Singh Rajput) – is a osteosarcoma (bone cancer) patient. He lives with his best friend JP (Sahil Vaid) who is suffering from glaucoma. Manny is a great admirer of actor Rajnikanth. So, they decided to shoot a short movie based on the famous scenes of Rajni. Both are apt for their roles. Their enthusiastic behaviours makes audience to forget about their tragic diseases. They are so full of life. Sushant's dynamic performance stands out.

Kizie Basu (Sanjana Sanghi) – is a thyroid cancer patient. She wants to live a normal life despite her health condition. Sanjana is a perfect choice for her role. She beautifully portrays each scene.

Their love shines brighter than their deadly fate. The word ‘Seri’ (Tamil - சரி, means ‘OK’ In English) holds a very special meaning in their own fairy tale.

Kizie's father (Saswata Chatterjee) and kizie’s mother (Swastika Mukherjee) have played their roles well. You will witness how typical parents try to come out of their way for their daughter’s happiness.

A.R. Rahman has beautifully done the excellent melancholic music with an exuberant touch. My personal favourite track is 'Main Tumhara'.

Story starts off straight away and ends in a sad soul stirring phase.

Direction, cinematography are perfectly done.

Overall, Dil Bechara is a grief-stricken film which has three-hanky ending.

I highly recommend this movie to all the lovers of romantic melodrama and of course to the admirers of Sushant Singh Rajput.

Happy watching!!!

P.S: Dear Sushant,

I love all your 'Self musing' writings especially the following one,

“Somewhere between neurons & narratives, I was born, lived, dreamt & died”.

You will always be missed.

By,
One among your innumerable fans.

Thappad (Movie Review)

July 22, 2020 0 Comments

Synopsis:

Thappad is a story of Amrita whose seemingly perfect life is shattered when her husband slaps her once in a party. But, Is one slap enough to question what a relationship stands for?

Review:

I unexpectedly watched this movie trailer. After that, I searched for some Google reviews about this movie. After reading few reviews, I made up my mind to definitely watch this movie sometime. I made the right choice after all.

Amrita (Taapsee Pannu) – Married to Vikram (Pavail Gulati). They happily lived their life until everything turns upside down because of a single slap. Both of them give real soul to their roles. She is the queen of this movie.

Shivani (Dia Mirza) and her daughter Sania (Gracy Goswami) beautifully play their roles. Her story is proof that beautiful love also exists.

Advocate Netra (Maya Sarao) manifests justice to her role through her brilliant acting. Her part makes you to realise that true happiness is everything that matters in your life. And advocate Pramod (Ram Kapoor) perfectly fits to oppose her boldness.

Sunita (Geetika Vidya Ohlyan) makes you realise how cruelly this world treats some housewives.

Sachin (Kumud Mishra) and Sandhya (Ratna Pathak Shah) are perfect choices for Amrita’s parents. They are such a lovely couple.

Each and every character is flawlessly selected. Story development genuinely pulls out our vehement feelings. Direction is highly appreciative. Music gives enough life to the movie.

After watching all the characters' perspective, you will never ask - Is this all for a single slap?.

This movie conveyed so many messages about domestic violence, outdated genre expectations and also the decade of conditions we must follow as per the majority of the population. It also tells us – respect and happiness are important to each person. And of course true love too.

Overall, this movie is a well crafted message conveying one of society’s biggest issues.

I highly recommend this movie to all those who really want to understand the meaning of a relationship and also to the admirers of a good message movie.

Happy watching!!!

Rich Dad Poor Dad (Book Review)

July 07, 2020 0 Comments

Synopsis :

Rich Dad Poor Dad is Robert’s story of growing up with two dads — his real father and the father of his best friend, his “rich dad” — and the ways in which both men shaped his thoughts about money and investing. The book explodes the myth that you need to earn a high income to be rich and explains the difference between working for money and having your money work for you.

Review :

Thanks to everyone who recommended me this book. For the first time I tried my hands on financial management. And this book provided me immense knowledge and proved me right about choosing it.

This book includes nine chapters along with study sessions in each. I will share the essence of few chapters now.

The rich don’t work for money (Chapter 1):

Yes, you have read it right. The poor and the middle class work for money. The rich have money work for them.

Most of the middle class and poor people have failed to avoid one of the life’s biggest traps. They always run the rat race. They want to play it safe and feel secure. They are always controlled by fears but not by their passion.

If you want to be rich, you must see what others missed. Most people never see opportunities because they are looking for money and security. So that’s all they get. But the moment you see one opportunity, you will see them for the rest of your life.

“True learning takes energy, passion and a burning desire. Anger is a big part of that formula, for passion is anger and love combined.”

Mind your own business (chapter 3):

Financial struggle is often the result of people working all their life for someone else. If you have to become financially secure, you need to mind your own business.

To know more, you must know the difference between assets and liabilities. For that you have to read few chapters in the book.

“An important distinction is that rich people buy luxuries last while the poor and middle class tend to buy luxuries first.”

The rich invent money (chapter 5):

The single most powerful asset we all have is our mind. If it is trained well, it can create enormous wealth seemingly instantaneously.

If you always prefer secure investments, you cannot train your mind for the greater good. The problem with secure investments are that they are often sanitized, that is, made so safe that the gains are less. But, rich people are often creative and take calculated risks.

“Often in the real world, it’s not the smart who get ahead, but the bold.”

Overall, this book is a perfect bundle to impart financial literacy. If you truly want to learn about finances and the difference between assets and liabilities, then this is what you are searching for.

P.S: This is not a perfectly crafted story telling book but a book with profoundly shared secrets about investments and finances.

I highly recommend this book for those who really want to know about the strategies of rich people and of course to the fans of Robert T. Kiyosaki.

Happy reading!!!
